Modbus

The Modbus protocol is a communication protocol based on a client/server architecture.
It was introduced in 1979 by Gould-Modicon for communication with its programmable logic controllers (PLCs).

In industry, Modbus has become a de facto standard because it is an open protocol.

October 2025		A REST API allows reading and writing of Modbus values. All Modbus values can be saved in CSV files, also periodically via the refresh function.
August 2025		The Modbus Explorer now supports the first SunSpec models.
